Product Details

A low-growing species that is an ideal groundcover for dry, well-drained conditions. Prefers full sun with sandy, acidic soil. Often grows well in poor, infertile soil. This plant is extremely winter hardy as it grows naturally in Canada's northern regions. Produces rounded, berry-like fruit (known as drupes) that ripen in August-September. They are enjoyed by birds, bears and small mammals.

Also known as kinninnick.

Height : 0.5-1 feet (15-30cm) Spread : 3-6 feet (90-180 cm)

Bloom Period : April - May

Light : Full sun to partial shade

Water : Dry to medium

Soil : Sand, Loam

Zone : 2-6

Native Habitat : Open areas in the boreal forest, rocky montane sites

Landscape Uses : Rock gardens, borders, naturalization
