Product Details

A native woodland species with a powerful architectural personality. Tall spires of creamy white blooms are perched upon long, wiry stalks. It blooms during the summer months when many other woodland species have gone dormant. This large specimen thrives in shady, moist areas. Prefers rich soils but is fairly drought tolerant.

Formerly cimicifuga racemosa (now considered actaea racemosa) and also known as black snakeroot or black bugbane.

Height : 4-6 feet (120-180 cm) Spread : 2-5 feet (60-150 cm)

Bloom Period : June to August

Light : Partial to Full Shade

Water : Medium to Moist

Soil : Sand, Loam, Clay

Zone : 3-8

Deer Resistant : Yes

Native Habitat : Woodlands, forest edges

Landscape Uses : Shade gardens, woodland naturalization
