Many folks ask us if they should add some fertilizer when planting native plants, particularly woody species.

While we do not recommend adding any chemical fertilizer, we do however suggest the addition of worm manure. It is a natural, slow release fertilizer containing beneficial microbes which inoculate the surrounding soil.

As well as adding important nutrients, the manure aids in the moisture retention of the surrounding soil.

Although worm manure does contains amounts of humic acid, a perfect accompaniment would be the addition of Humalite as it will work in conjunction with the manure, boosting the beneficial properties and aiding with the plants uptake of nutrients.
