Nyssa sylvatica - Black Gum
Unfortunately the leaves of some of our woody species were hit by frost on May 18th. We expect that they will all be perfectly fine, but we have listed them as "Temporarily Unavailable" until we observe their new sets of leaves. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
A medium sized tree with a stately form and rounded crown. Effective as an ornamental shade tree for lawns and front yards. Has spectacular scarlet red fall color.
Typically found in lowlands and wet woodlands but can adapt to drier soils. Long taproot enables it to have moderate drought tolerance once established. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Female trees need a male pollinator to set fruit.
