A hardy shrub often found along shorelines, bog margins and rocky terrain. Leaves give off a sweet fragrance when rubbed together. Female plants produce small catkins. Short in stature with loosely branched stems. Will tolerate a wide range of conditions but prefers moist, acidic soil.
