Larix laricina - Tamarack
Product Details
A very unique tree as it's considered a deciduous-evergreen. The tamarack produces cones, like coniferous evergreens, yet it drops it's foliage (needles), like a deciduous tree, in the fall. Brilliant green needles are amazingly soft and abundant as they decorate the branches in a multitude of sprigs. The needles turn a stunning yellow hue in the fall.
Has a pyramidal shape with horizontal branching. Prefers moist, acidic soil in full sun. Does not like dry, shallow soil and is intolerant of shade.
Often interchangeably referred to as eastern larch and tamarack.
