Juniperus virginiana - Eastern Red Cedar
A dense, pyramidal-shaped coniferous tree. Excellent for windbreaks and screens. Will grow in wide range of soil conditions so long as the soil is well-drained. Birds, such as cedar waxwings, are very fond of the small, berry-like fruit the female tree produces. Also, it is frequently selected as a nesting site for birds because of it's dense form and protective needles.
