Delphinium exaltatum - Tall Larkspur
A wonderful, native larkspur species. Has a graceful, vertical architecture and a long bloom period. When in flower is highly sought after by bumblebees. Flower color varies from a soft lavender to a deep purple, with each individual plant displaying it's own shade of purple. When plants are grouped, this feature creates a harmonious effect as the gradient of color blends and plays off one another.
This species native to the North American Midwest and is considered a near native in Ontario.
