Pale-leaved Sunflower

Helianthus strumosus

The large, beautiful flower is a great addition to a garden area that experiences dappled shade. In the fall the pale leaved sunflower displays an array of yellow blooms and brings life to the corner of garden or woodland edge. Birds are consumers of the abundant seeds.

Height : 3-5 feet (90-150 cm)

Spread : 2-3 feet (60-90 cm)

Blooming Period : August to October

Light : Full to Partial Sun

Water : Dry to medium

Soil : Sand, loam

Zone : 3-8

Native Ontario Habitat : Prairies, open woodlands and corridors

Landscape Uses : Butterfly gardens, pollinator gardens, meadows and naturalized areas
