Serviceberry

Amelanchier canadensis

Beautiful white flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators. Deer resistant. Berries attract small wildlife and many bird species. Edible berries can be used for jams, jellies and pies. Salt tolerant and does best in moist, well-drained soil.

Height : 15-20 feet

Spread : 8-12 feet

Light : Full sun to part shade

Water : Medium to moist

Soil : Loam

Zone : 3b-8

Leaves : Medium-dark green leaves. Fall foliage is a blend of orange, red and green

Stem : Slender brown stems

Flower : Brilliant white flowers that emerge before leaves. Bloom time March-April

Fruit : Edible berries that resemble blueberries in shape and color

Habit : Upright multi-stemmed shrub or small tree
