Ninebark

Physocarpus opulifolius

Drought tolerant. Mass in shrub borders, effective as hedge, screen or for erosion control on banks. Able to grow in harsh conditions. Attracts birds and pollinators.

Light : Full sun to part shade

Water : Dry to moist

Soil : Sand, loam, clay

Zone : 2-8

Leaves : Leaves are a lush green in summer. Fall color is yellowish to bronze

Stem : Bark peeling in long papery sheets on older stems, rich brown inner bark. Young stems shiny red-brown

Flower : Attractive white to pinkish flowers in May-June

Fruit : Reddish-brown fruit in September-October

Habit : Upright-spreading deciduous shrub with long, curving branches and dense foliage.
