Nannyberry

Viburnum lentago

An excellent shrub to produce food for local wildlife as birds and small mammals love the berries, learn more here. It will perform well in urban environments and will tolerate high levels of shade. Great for naturalized areas, screening and mass planting. Attracts pollinators.

Water : Dry to moist

Soil : Sand, loam, clay

Leaves : Large, ovate leaves with yellowish-green to dark green upper with underside a pale green

Stem : Gray to reddish-grey trunk with branches light gray

Flower : Flat-topped creamy flowers that form in clusters in May-June

Fruit : Showy small blue or bluish-black berries held in abundant clusters in the fall

Habit : Multi-stemmed shrub or single-trunk tree. Upright form with some tendency for branches to arch. Suckers to spread
